These days, a great news has been flying around the cyclocross world. Star Mathieu van der Poel decided to start at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Tábor. The elite Dutchman has already won the WC five times and will defend this year's triumph from Hoogerheide. Mathieu van der Poel has only golden memories of Tábor. In the south of Czechia, he became the world champion in 2015 and did not know defeat in any of the parts of the World Cup. "Van der Poel is simply good here at Tábor. This is the best invitation to the championship for every sports fan," says Petr Balogh, World Championships Race Director.

For now, Mathieu van der Poel is dedicated to road racing. On the last Sunday of October, he competed in the road criterium in Madrid alongside the biggest stars of road cycling. His opponents were, for example, Mark Cavendish, Peter Sagan and Luis León Sánchez. However, even such calibers did not stop the star Dutchman on his way to victory.

Mathieu van der Poel is looking forward to the spring classics. "I will start in the jersey of the world champion. But the best preparation for the classics is cyclocross, and I won't miss it this year either. In addition, I am the world champion in it too. I have fifteen to twenty races planned, I would like to start in the second half of December for the first time, and the last race will be the World Championship in Tábor," said the popular Dutchman after the races in Madrid. He is thus the first of the star cyclocrossers to outline his plans just in the cyclocross season.
